Gabe Grant is a multi-passionate industrial designer and problem solver living in los angeles

Industrial design is about more than creating beautiful products, it is about enhancing the daily routines and habits that define our lives. My practices have been focused on enhancing these experiences through materials exploration and human centered design. Exploring and improving the experiences involved in any daily activity is what captivates me, because it is so easy to overlook the importance of the products that we interact with every day,

EXPERIENCE

 

July 2018 - Present

Industrial Designer - HEMPER

Lead product development for a wide range of smoking accessories across 4 brands, focused on creating a large variety of lifestyle products that are functional, desirable, and attainable at multiple price points

Work with a combination of mass manufacturable and hand crafted material, balancing material production restraints and high product demand.

Provide 3D CAD models and technical drawings to communicate with both domestic and international manufacturers

Create product spec sheets and aid in the design and execution of B2B catalogs and product displays

Packaging and POP display design for trade shows and retail presentation

 

Sep. 2016 - July 2018

Industrial Design Contractor - HEMPER

Worked remotely as the industrial designer for HEMPER in DC.

Interfaced directly with the CEO to communicate product ideas and design intentions

Helped build out the product design sector of the business to begin developing products and packaging for HEMPER and other brands

July 2015 - July 2016

Industrial Designer - MARLEY NATURAL

Helped lead the design and development of 6+ lifestyle accessories, while contributing to the development of 8+ other products for 2016 and 2017 launches

Worked on various products at different stages in the design cycle; from initial ideation, to CMF exploration, to QA and refinement before and after launch

Prepared technical documentation for overseas manufacturers and packaging instructions for the domestic packing company

Full time freelance designer transitioned into full-time in-house designer

Nov 2014 - Jan 2015

Industrial Design Contractor - QUIRKY

I was kept on as a short-term freelancer to complete research, design, 3D models, and design spec documentation for 5+ products for handoff to engineering and marketing teams

Aided other designers with CMF exploration, prototyping, and handoff documentation

Attended weekly meetings to discuss product launches, design progress, and team strategy

June 2014 - Nov 2014

Industrial Design Intern - QUIRKY

This internship was initially extended, and then transitioned into a short-term contract design job.

Designed and began development for a wide variety of products through extensive research, brainstorming, sketching, 3D modeling, and prototyping. 

Prepared research and CMF documentation to hand off to engineering and marketing teams.
